If you have not moved items into storage before, and if you are not using a professional removal company, you may be wondering what size van you will need to use. The following table shows you approximately what you will need.

Flat (eg 1 bed)	1-2 loads	1 load	1 load
Small house (eg 2 beds)	2-3 loads	1-1.5 loads	1 load
Average house (eg 3 beds)	3-4 loads	2 loads	1 load
Large house (eg 4 beds)	4-5 loads	3 loads	1-1.5 loads

As you can see, if you are using a smaller van, you may need to make more journeys and this will take more time. You will need to take this into account when deciding whether it is more economic to hire a small van or a larger one. If hiring a larger van, you need to make sure that your driving licence and insurance allow you to drive the size of vehicle you want to hire.
